July 2010: FIREGLASS UK GUARANTEES A FIRE-SAFE RETIREMENT
Fireglass UK has completed specialist glazing work to provide a fire-safe retirement for more than 250 residents at a purpose-built residential community in Gloucester.
St Oswald’s Retirement Village comprises 166 self-contained apartments and bungalows, surrounded by extensive central service including a fitness and well being centre, restaurant, bar and village hall.
In conjunction with their suppliers, CGI International, Fireglass UK glazed more than 160 pieces of 15mm 30/30 and 60/60 full integrity and insulation glass, into timber fire rated screens. The total order comprised 150 m2 of glass and took a total of 100 man-hours to install over a two week period.
Mark Gamwell of Fire Glass UK said: “A fast-turn-around of glass was critical to this project and we worked closely with CGI to ensure we could meet the tight delivery times and exact specifications of the job.”
Fire Glass UK also protected the glass with twinshield board after installation to prevent marks and contamination while other site trades continued on site.
Formerly Gloucester’s cattle market, the four acre site is being developed by Gloucester City Council, Rooftop Housing Group and The ExtraCare Charitable Trust. The Leadbitter Group is the main contractor for the project.
